AIR TRANSPORT: The Bid Manager leads virtual Bid Teams, developing and communicating goals, and coordinating staff across a matrix structure typically consisting of SRM and Business Unit staff along with various corporate departments, third party partners and suppliers.
The Bid Manager supports the Account Manager with Customer communications to ensure that we are portrayed professionally and with credibility. The Bid Manager will successfully close new and renewal business opportunities related to managed, major and/or complex solutions.
Validate qualification of opportunities with Sales & Relationship Management (SRM) team and monitor qualification status at all stages during the bid process
Analyse and understand the customer's detailed requirements; identify and develop the optimum win strategy and associated appropriate level of response in order to successfully bid and win each contract
Develop the overall bid project plan, and build and manage the virtual Bid Team to achieve the bid deliverables
Coordinate the negotiation team in the pre-contract stage with the Customer
Own and review the overall response to customer, assessing the risk to delivering a successful bid project
Comprehensively prepare for and effectively manage the presentation of our solution response at formal and informal internal, third party and Customer meetings
Ensure development and approval of the proposed solution (including financials) is carried out in accordance with the appropriate Business Unit processes
Plan for and ensure a smooth transition from the Bid Team to the implementation team upon contract award
Communicate progress regularly and clearly to the relevant senior management and stakeholders, ensuring that major issues are escalated and addressed.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years of commercial experience in a commercial, or whole sales cycle environment - ideally from a Bid / Tender management field.
We would particularly value applicants coming from the IT sector.
Experience gained in the Aviation industry is highly desirable, but not essential.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Understanding of bid management process, including whole sales cycle
Strong commercial acumen coupled with effective influencing and negotiation skills
Strong project and people management skills to establish credibility internally necessary for managing cross-functional and cross-Business Unit Bid Teams
Effective communicator and presenter internally and externally at Senior Manager level
Effective Virtual Team leader.
Duration: 12 months + or full time.
