AIR TRANSPORT: The Bid Manager leads virtual globally distributed Bid Teams, developing and communicating goals, and coordinating staff across a matrix structure typically consisting of business development and solution design teams along with various corporate departments, third party partners and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:
Work with the Sales & Business Development (S&BD) team to maintain an understanding of customer objectives and monitor potential to win and qualification status at all stages during the bid process
Facilitate workshops with the S&BD leads and the bid team to ensure that a compelling commercial offer, the win strategy and themes are understood and communicated to the team
Work with the solution designers to produce a solution that is affordable to the customer whilst meeting business and product objectives
Develop the overall bid project plan, and build and manage the virtual Bid Team to produce the bid deliverables in an effective and efficient manner and in line with agreed bid delivery time line
Coordinate the negotiation team in the pre-contract stage with the Customer, including the setting up of appropriate commercial partnership agreements and underpinning contracts to support contract deliverables whilst ensuring that the relevant internal expertise is involved in the closure of commercial, financial and legal issues with the customer
Own and review the overall response to customer, assessing the risk to delivering a successful bid project, and ensure that these are addressed appropriately under the guidance of senior regional / commercial management.
Education:
Minimum degree level or equivalent professional experience
Formal Project Management training
Ideally holding at least Foundation Level APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) accreditation and/or equivalent formal training in Proposal or Bid Management.
Experience:
Will have at least 3 years experience managing bids, in a matrix organization
Experience supporting Sales and Business Development teams in creation of commercial offers for business/IT solutions would be an advantage
Experience in developing successful relationships at Senior Manager level
Experience in managing complex solution bids within the airport operations industry and/or managing bids Government tenders would be advantage
Experience managing international bids.
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong commercial acumen coupled with effective influencing and negotiation skills
Strong project and people management skills to establish credibility internally necessary for managing cross-functional and cross-Business Unit Bid Teams
An understanding of the air transport industry and relevant IT systems
Recognizes, understands and can create empathy with customer business issues
Effective communicator and presenter internally and externally at Senior Manager level.
Duration: 12 months + or full time.
Rate: Please quote expected salary or day rate.
