Carlos has wide-range experience from a 25-year career as a management consultant and an executive. He is a strong strategic and operational expert with proven financial, commercial, organizational and managerial skills, developed in Aviation, Airports and Tourism industries.

 

His specialties include Airline Management: Strategy, fleet & network planning, revenue & pricing, operations, scheduling, finance & control, organizational development, crew allocation, travel distribution, and ground handling; EU and US regulations and bilateral air services agreements; Demand forecasts; Airport development, terminal design and airport management; Turnaround processes; Start-ups and Strategy, finance, operations, economics, organizational development, governance and general management.

 

Carlos’ most recent project role has been detailing the viability and creating a Business plan for a start-up airline in Europe with bases in Italy, France and Germany, comprising all aspects from Licensing to implementation up to cruise speed.

 

He has a profound knowledge of demand forecasts, resources optimization, value proposition design, strategic audits and strategic planning and strategic management, competitive assessment and performance gap analysis, Strategic and operational Monitoring and Evaluation, organizational restructuring and turnaround processes; business planning, financial modelling, cost-benefit analysis, investment assessment and company valuations.

 

Other roles have included restructuring of the National airline TACV – business unit’s valuations, support in the implementation of entire spin-off process. For the EU, Business Plan of the Mostar International Airport: demand forecasts and tourism opportunities, definition of core services to offer and target markets, competition analysis. Design of real options available, financial plan and economic and financial viability analysis of the project. Preparation of documentation for private investor concession scheme.

Carlos also headed up the strategic plan for LAM (Linhas  Aéreas de Mozambique): extensive market analysis of the demand, supply and competitiveness of the various players, of all potential routes in the region and intercontinental to and from the region; governmental development plans of tourism and transportation; analysis of the internal cost structure; operational conditions of the airports; redesign of the network and optimal fleet size and financing; pricing optimization features and methods; strategic planning of the ancillary business areas; monitoring of the strategic plan; Business Plan; training of staff.

 

Carlos is also a Lecturer at the Aviation Department of Universida Lusófona and speaks 7 languages - Portuguese, Swedish, English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.
